Privacy Policy

Your privacy matters. This page explains, in plain English, what Ice Study collects when you use the app, why we collect it, and how to control it. Ice Study is operated by Ice Study ("we", "us", "our").

The short version

Your study sessions stay on your device by default. We don't have a server that stores them.
We use Apple's App Store for purchases and RevenueCat to track your subscription status.
We use TikTok for ad attribution only in the production App Store build, and only if you grant tracking permission via Apple's prompt.
You can ask us to delete any data we hold about you at any time.

What we collect

1. Study session data (stored locally)

When you start, end, or complete a session in Ice Study, the app saves the start time, planned duration, actual duration, and whether you completed it. This data is stored on your device using Apple's SwiftData framework. It does not leave your device unless you choose to share it.

2. Onboarding answers (stored locally)

During the optional onboarding quiz, the app stores your answers (e.g., student type, focus span, goal) on-device only. These answers personalize your in-app plan and never leave your device.

3. Subscription information (RevenueCat)

If you purchase a subscription, billing is processed by Apple via the App Store. We use RevenueCat to verify your purchase and entitlement status. RevenueCat receives an anonymous device-bound user ID, your purchase receipt from Apple, and basic device metadata (model, OS version). It does not receive your name, email, or contact info.

4. Analytics & attribution (production only, with your consent)

The production App Store build of Ice Study includes the TikTok Business SDK so we can measure whether ad campaigns are working. Before any tracking happens we show Apple's App Tracking Transparency prompt and ask permission. If you decline, no tracking events are sent.

When you allow tracking, TikTok may receive: your Apple Identifier for Advertisers (IDFA), basic device info (model, OS, language), purchase events, and product interaction events (e.g., "completed onboarding", "purchase completed"). This data is governed by the TikTok Privacy Policy.

The DEBUG and TestFlight builds do not initialize the TikTok SDK and send no tracking events.

5. Diagnostic information from Apple

If you've opted in via Settings → Privacy → Analytics & Improvements, Apple may share anonymized crash and performance reports with us through App Store Connect. We use these only to fix bugs.

What we do NOT collect

We don't ask for your name, email, phone, or address.
We don't read your contacts, photos, microphone, camera, location, or notifications.
We don't sell your data.
We don't track you across other apps or websites beyond the limited attribution described above.

Data we collect, as defined by Apple's Privacy Nutrition Label

For the App Store privacy label we declare the following categories. All are used for "Third-Party Advertising" and "Analytics" purposes, and apply only to the production App Store build with your tracking consent:

Purchase History — linked to you, used for tracking
Product Interaction — not linked to you, used for tracking
Device ID — not linked to you, used for tracking

Third parties we use

Apple — App Store, in-app purchases, App Tracking Transparency (policy)
RevenueCat — subscription receipt validation (policy)
TikTok — ad attribution, production builds only, with your ATT consent (policy)

Your rights

You can:

Delete your local data by uninstalling Ice Study. All on-device session data is removed with the app.
Reset advertising tracking via Settings → Privacy & Security → Tracking on your device. Revoking permission for Ice Study stops all attribution events immediately.
Cancel your subscription at any time via Settings → Apple ID → Subscriptions.
Request deletion of any data tied to your anonymous RevenueCat ID by emailing us. We will pass the request to RevenueCat within 30 days.

Children

Ice Study is not directed to children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect data from them. If you believe a child has provided data, contact us and we will delete it.

International users

If you use Ice Study from outside the United States, your data may be transferred to and processed in the United States by the third parties listed above. Their privacy policies describe the safeguards they apply for international transfers.

Changes to this policy

We may update this privacy policy if the app changes. We'll update the "Last updated" date at the top and, for material changes, notify you in the app.
